This wasn’t because of Reddit.

  1. Rus intelligence has access to satellite imagery just like the West. Not difficult to tell an occupied military installation from unoccupied. Plus they have informants and operators in plain clothes on the ground for recce purposes. SIGINT intercepts would also give away this place is being used and is packed.

  2. Military installations are always early targets. One of the most obvious targets, next to infrastructure like airfields. They shouldn’t have still been in garrison.

              looks like a barrack. also people can locate you based on sound alone. you can put audio on a spectrogram and analyze background noise by isolating frequencies. maybe theres animal sounds, train sounds, helicopters or planes sound can be detected and located.

              for example this video here. skip to around 4:46 and you can see what im talking about. you can get so much things from background noise alone.

              Like, a lot of the wacky investigation technology actually does exist in some capacity now.

              Videos can be timestamped by listening to the hum of electrical lines, and face matching to social media is beyond trivial now.
